Monthly Delivery of Sun Lakes Splash Newspaper and Community Impact

Each month, the Sun Lakes Splash newspaper is delivered to more than 16,000 driveways in the Sun Lakes area. Residents may notice a car moving slowly down their street, with a passenger preparing and tossing a newspaper onto each driveway. This delivery process is carefully organized to ensure that every household receives their copy of the newspaper.

The People Behind Delivery

The individuals responsible for this monthly task are members and friends of the Rotary Club of Sun Lakes. The delivery team includes over 100 Rotarians, along with their spouses, family members, and friends, all volunteering their time to support the community.

Reinvesting in the Community

According to Jim O’Connell, the Splash Delivery Committee Chair, all funds earned from these newspaper deliveries are dedicated to supporting local initiatives. The Rotary Club of Sun Lakes directs these resources toward a variety of charitable projects, including:
  • Scholarships for Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) students
  • Support for community food pantries
  • Assistance for veterans
  • Distribution of over 4,000 dictionaries to third graders in CUSD and Gila River Indian Community schools
  • Youth leadership camps
  • STEM education programs
  • Many other Rotary Club of Sun Lakes charitable projects
This ongoing commitment demonstrates how the Rotary Club of Sun Lakes continuously gives back to the community through a wide range of service efforts.
