Welcome to the Rotary Club of Sun Lakes, Arizona

Sun Lakes Rotary Club (Chartered April 22, 1986) is a leadership organization made up of men and women from local businesses, professional, education, civic and emerging leaders.  We meet regularly, get to know each other, form friendships, and through that we’re able to get things done in our greater Sun Lakes community.  Come join us and share our passion for community service and friendship.
Club President Message
Jon Lyons
Our Sun Lakes Rotary Club's 80+ members embrace Rotary International's Vision “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our own communities and in ourselves”.  Our members are working and retired men and women of action from the Sun Lakes and Chandler communities who are committed to service in our own communities, communities around the world, and especially projects and programs that support our youth and education.  We WELCOME you to one of our weekly meetings where you will have the opportunity to meet our members, join in on the fun, and get to know Rotary and what we are doing. We meet on time, we eat on time, we have a good time.

This is “Old News.” You will love it anyway. It is a story of “Old Glory.” It’ll touch your sense of patriotism and your heart.  Yes, last month’s Sun Lakes Splash issue was the same high-quality newspaper you expect. But for many, how it hit your driveway was unique.
Go ahead. Brag. You have had 98-year old Pearl Harbor Survivor and decorated World War II Navy Aviator, Jack Holder, as your “Paper Boy.”
“Life is a funny thing,” says Holder, with a smile as big as his native Texas. “Most people experience delivering newspapers much younger. I waited until I was 98.”
Our November Rotarian of the Month recognition goes to Maureen Alger who is also a 2nd Generation Rotarian after her father who is a Rotarian in New Jersey. Maureen joined our Rotary club in October 2018 and is a 3rd grade teacher at Auxier Elementary School in the Chandler Unified School District.
The 3rd Grade Dictionary Project has been one of Sun Lakes Rotary Club’s most successful and rewarding projects that both students, teachers, and Rotarians look forward to each year.  The project was started in 2003 and this year marks our 17th year of distributing dictionaries to all 3rd graders in the Chandler Unified School District, Title 9 programs, private schools and on the Navajo Nation.  In total, well over 55,000 dictionaries have been distributed since the project began.
We welcome from Washington State Kim Rector who recently retired and moved with husband Tim to our Sun Lakes Community after spending 18 years as a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines and before that the owner of four Mexican Restaurants for 17 years in the greater Seattle area.
