Welcome to the Rotary Club of Sun Lakes, Arizona

Sun Lakes Rotary Club (Chartered April 22, 1986) is a leadership organization made up of men and women from local businesses, professional, education, civic and emerging leaders.  We meet regularly, get to know each other, form friendships, and through that we’re able to get things done in our greater Sun Lakes community.  Come join us and share our passion for community service and friendship.

Our Sun Lakes Rotary Club's 90 plus members embrace Rotary International's Vision “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe, in our own communities and in ourselves”.  Our members are working and retired men and women of action from the Sun Lakes and Chandler communities who are committed to service in our own communities, communities around the world, and especially projects and programs that support our youth and education.  We WELCOME you to one of our weekly meetings where you will have the opportunity to meet our members, join in on the fun, and get to know Rotary and what we are doing. We meet on time, we eat on time, we have a good time.

We are sorry to inform you that our weekly meetings have been cancelled until further notice because of the challenge with the Coronavirus and the velocity of its contagion and the risk that it purposes. This is obviously a painful and difficult decision as Rotary is grounded in fellowship, but we are also based on looking out for the good of our communities. Thus, temporarily avoiding contact that could provide an avenue for the spread of the virus and adhering to hygiene protocol in all other situations will help end the risk.  Together we can see an end to this virus and protecting not only our fellow Rotary members, but those in our community and health care professionals.

The Sun Lakes Rotary Club and the San Tan Rotary Foundation express our THANK YOU to all our supporting motorcycle riders, sponsors, donors of all varieties, event vendors and exhibitors, Rotary, Rotaract  and  volunteers, and our Mesa host Desert Wind Harley-Davidson.  We experienced a banner year from almost every angle but most importantly our ability to financially support the work of the Phoenix program of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing and the 125+ veteran families they engage with every year!

Don Prestin is our March Rotarian of the Month.  Don joined the Sun Lakes Rotary Club in October 2007 after retiring from being a United Airline Pilot for 37 years.  It didn’t take long for Don to become involved in the club fundraisers,

"Women who engage in Rotary projects are not only changing the world and making a difference in lives, they're changing themselves" - Stephanie A. Urchick, Rotary International Director

Rotarian and Hockey Coach, Peter Morris has led the Hamilton High School Huskies to winning the Division 1 Arizona State High School Hockey Championship for the first time in history!  It was not an easy victory as they fought the four-time defending State Champions Pinnacle High School and defeated them 4-3 in an overtime shootout to advance to the Championship game where they played and defeated Chaparral High School 7-5 to become the State Champions.

Women became a part of the Rotary International organization on May 4, 1987 and over these past 33 years women account for about 27% of the membership or about 338,000 women members around the world and still growing.  The Sun Lakes Rotary Club will celebrate its 34th year (Chartered April 22, 1986) and women account for 26% of the membership.

The AWIM (A World in Motion) program was created by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Foundation to get elementary students excited about math and science in support of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). The program is for grades K-8. Several of our Rotary members along with High School Volunteers go into the classroom over a six-week period to assist the teachers and the students.

The CO2 Dragster program is a joint program between the Chandler Unified School District and our Sun Lakes Rotary Club. High School students use Computer Aided Design (CAD) to design their Dragster and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) to help construct their Dragster. At the end of the program, a District wide competition takes place where students give presentations and race their vehicles on a 20-meter track. The competition ends with ‘Knock Out’ drag races.
