Councilmember Christine Ellis was born and raised in Haiti and moved to the United States in July 1982. She has resided in Chandler since 1987. She has been married to her husband, Benjamin, for 32 years and has two children, Sean and Taliah.

Councilmember Ellis has a Bachelor of Science, in Nursing from Grand Canyon University and has worked as an RN for many large hospitals and care facilities, while holding many high-level positions such as Director of Nursing in the Metro Phoenix area. She has also taught medical assistant and certified nursing classes in Arizona’s community colleges.

From 1998 to 2015, she founded and operated Cedar Sanctuary LLC, realizing that families needed an alternative to caring for their loved ones. In addition to caring for the elderly, she has been a part of the foundation of The Bridge/FCS Ministry for more than 17 years, which helps feed the local homeless population and provides to their spiritual needs, partnering with other ministries in Arizona.

Rodney Montreuil, the Founder and Executive Director of the Haitian American Center for Social Economic Development, will tell us how his organization serves the refugee communities of the Greater Phoenix area and how it creates infrastructures for Haitian refugees

Reverend Dieudonne Mushishi is a native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  He will share with us his experiences in Africa, his travels and his educational endeavors

Michelle Knowlton-Thorne, founder and President of D.A.M.E.S. Charities, will share with us information on her organization and how it works to reduce caregiver burnout and build the resiliency of caregivers of disabled children.

The Rotary Club of Brantford, Ontario Canada, founded in 1917, is visiting us on a “Friendship Exchange” and will share with us information about their Club, their activities and their special efforts in working with physically handicapped children.

Our fellow Club Member, Kiamesha Guy, Co-Founder of Global Maternal Wellness, will provide an overview of her organization and how it works to assist veteran families that need assistance in women’s and family planning healthcare.

The Sun Lakes singing group The Chordaires will perform some of the songs of their April 1^st Spring Concert.

Our Annual Four-Way Test Speech Contest will be held with six Chandler Unified District high schools participating.

Ron Wasko, retired Executive Director of the Automobile Manufacturer’s Association, will speak to the club about his passion of flying model airplanes, helicopters and drones with the Sun Lakes Model Airplane Club

Lisa Titmas and Janice Varnado of Arizona Priority Care will share with us their thoughts and recommendations on handling PCP groups and Medicare.

Cailean Bailey will share with us “The Future of Work: Clouds, Robots and the Digital WorkForce.”

Club Business Meeting

David A. David of Car and Driver magazine will highlight some of today’s auto markets and events.
In 1997 he was recruited to be the Director of Consumer Reports Auto Test Facility in East Haddam CT, where he was in charge of their extensive auto, tire and child seat testing at the 327-acre site in East Haddam, CT. The Auto Test campus is a state-of-the-art facility with specially paved surfaces, straight- and winding-road courses, an off-road course, the latest computerized test equipment, and an expert staff. The department anonymously buys and tests more than 80 cars and trucks a year, and is the largest independent consumer automobile testing center in the world.He moved back to the valley in 2012 and rejoined Nissan at their proving grounds just south of Maricopa, where he was an executive senior advisor for design and quality. He was involved in the design and development of future products and systems, including advanced zero emission vehicles and autonomous driving cars.Since retiring in 2018 he started a consulting company helping auto manufacturers with his wealth of expertise.
He is also renovating a 1985 British Rover Vitesse, which is quite a task as they were never imported into the US. His first car was a 1959 Mini.
