Our Rotarian of the Month for August is Phyllis Carr who worked throughout the spring/early summer to coordinate the 4 students that we sponsored to attend the World Affairs Seminar in Wisconsin (which was switched to a Virtual Seminar due to Covid). She kept in close contact with the students to confirm all 4 would attend and set up the report out to our club at
the July 28th Club Meeting.  She also worked to ensure our club would have a credit on account with the WAS people in Wisconsin for next year, and worked in connection with Lisa Phillips who was able to ‘rescue’ the airline credits to be available to the SLRC vs. the 4 students that were named on the airline tickets.

In June Phyllis stepped up to lead two key areas in the club.  1) Speaker Coordinator and 2) External Communications.  During the last 7 weeks Phyllis has secured/confirmed speakers through September and signed up 5 Rotarians to own one of the future months of this Rotary Year in terms of arranging for Speakers at Club Meetings.  On External Communications, she has landed a nice article/pictures in the August Splash, and will make sure our Club has a monthly presence in the Sun Lakes Splash.  In addition, she is working with her husband Steve on Press Releases in other SE Valley Papers and the School System’s paper to include key activities of the SLRC and promote our club.

Congratulations Phyllis Carr and thank you for being a member of our club.
