The AWIM (A World in Motion) program was created by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Foundation to get elementary students excited about math and science in support of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). The program is for grades K-8. Several of our Rotary members along with High School Volunteers go into the classroom over a six-week period to assist the teachers and the students.

On December 13th the Chandler Carlson Elementary held their AWIM Jet Toy races for all 5th grade students with each class racing in the preliminaries where the top 3 teams were awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.  The medals were presented by Club President, Bill Crump and Club AWIM Chair, Don Robins along with several Rotarian volunteers that had been assisting the students with applying Math, Science, designing, building and testing their Jet Toy cars for the final race.  A plaque was presented to 5th grade AWIM teacher, Mrs. Drewry for placement in the school trophy bookcase for everyone to enjoy throughout the school year.
