Not long after the opening of the new Camille Casteel High School it was learned that there was a need for a large flagpole to be centrally located on the athletic ball fields.  The club decided that this was a good community project and in support of education.  It soon became a reality and just recently the dedication happened when the Casteel High School baseball team opened their 2018 home baseball season on February 27, 2018.  On hand for the dedication were some members of the Rotary Club of Sun Lakes.  Standing next to the flagpole: On the left, Matt Perisho, Baseball Coach and on the right, Principal Sandy Lundberg and Rotarian, John McKoy...
The flagpole installation provided both the United States and POW flags.  The POW flag was specifically requested by Principal Sandy Lundburg which the Rotary Club was pleased to make.  The dedication ceremony started with the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance and the start of the baseball game.  Retired American League Baseball Umpire, Don Denkinger and member of our Rotary club threw out the first pitch to start the game.  Rooting for him to not bounce the ball over the plate were club members John McKoy, Norm Noble, Peter Meade and Dale Rusk.

After the ceremony, a military veteran approached the Rotary club members to express his thanks for the POW flag as he had served in Vietnam and the flag had a special meaning to him and was pleased to see it waving under the American Flag.
