Our club had the honor of hosting the first 6 Rotary Club Assemble at the Oakwood Country Club with over 150 Rotarians from Sun Lakes, Chandler, Gilbert and Superstition Springs. Each club provided a short presentation on their clubs community projects, programs, fund raisers and accomplishments...
For several years, there have been three Arizona Rotary Districts and starting this year, two districts were merged into one, District 5490 and 5510 are now District 5495. The first District Governor for the new district is Nancy Van Pelt who spoke about how the merger happened over a process of 16 months and how it will provide more resources and opportunities across the northern half of Arizona. She demonstrated this with several examples that are presently underway and encouraged all clubs to focus on our theme of Rotary Making a Difference…Together. She presented each club with a newly designed district banner and then encouraged each Rotary Club to achieve the 5 Avenues of Service Award for this Rotary year 2017-2018.
Bringing together these 6 Rotary Clubs for the first time really gave us an opportunity to open up a dialogue of working together to better serve our local communities and to have a chance to meet and socialize on a personal level.
